Manufacturing of custom cold drawn special profiles
Complex geometries, outstanding precision
Cold drawing is a process used to obtain customized profiles with exceptional detail. Steel, in bars or coils, is drawn through shaped dies that define its geometry without removing material. This preserves the compact structure of the metal and improves its mechanical properties, resulting in greater hardness, strength, and toughness. SIPA’s cold-drawn profiles stand out for their tight tolerances, high-quality surface finish, and the flexibility to produce small batches, reducing both costs and waste.

Features and advantages of custom cold-drawn profiles
Dimensional accuracy
Steel drawn products feature very tight dimensional tolerances and uniform shape and size along the entire length of the product (even several meters, which is impossible using other technologies).
Surface quality
Cold drawing produces smooth, uniform surfaces that are not as rough as when using other machining processes. In certain cases, roughness is comparable to grinding operations. In addition, the surface has a polished finish with no surface oxides.
Complex customized shapes
A wide range of cross-sections can be obtained, from simple shapes to complex customized shapes, even with sharp edges, in various sizes and lengths.
Better mechanical and metallurgical properties
Steel drawn profiles have better mechanical and metallurgical properties compared to products obtained through other processes. This is because the cold-drawing process itself leads to strain hardening of the material. This means:
• Greater tensile strength
• Increased hardness
• Grain strengthening
Reduction of waste and less loss of material
Drawing technology does not involve removing material but rather forming and reducing the section of the bar, and elongating it. This avoids wasting raw material.
Reduced machining time
If we consider the quality of the drawn profiles we supply, additional surface machining is not required for many applications.
